Bujinkan Taka-Seigi Dojo
Seminar on Asymmetrical Violence
20-22 March 2015
The Bujinkan Taka Seigi Dojo is pleased to present Martial Artist, Veteran Correction Officer and Author Rory Miller for a special weekend seminar on Understanding Violence. Rory will distill what he has learned from jail house brawls, tactical law enforcement operations and ambushes and his time with the Iraqi National Police as a deployed LEO to explore the differences between martial arts training and the subject that martial arts were designed to deal with: Violence. The seminar is an overview of the elements Rory considers most important in dealing with violent assault: there will be three lectures covering the context of violence (legal, ethical, dynamics, prevention, ambush, freezing, force and dealing with the aftermath); a second lecture will be on self-defense law; and the third on violence dynamics. Physical skills for the first day will concentrate on efficient natural motion, power generation, and counter-ambush training. The second day will concentrate on dynamic fighting, ground movement, ethics and application of pain, and using the environment.
Violence is asymmetrical, fast and brutal. This event promises to open your eyes to the realities of violence and give you invaluable perspective on how violence works and what you can do about it. Rory has never been to the Baltimore area before, so do NOT miss your chance to see and train with one of the most respected names out there. We look forward to seeing you at this exciting event!

DIRECTIONS TO TRAINING: Take 95N or S to the Baltimore beltway. Take 695W towards Towson. Get on 795W and take it until it ends at 140W, which you take all the way to Westminster. Go through town and turn right on Rt. 97N/Littlestown Rd. Go approx 8 miles and turn left onto Mayberry Rd. (just past Brewer’s Market on right). Go ¾ of a mile and turn left onto the gravel road marked with a red triangle and yellow rectangle on the telephone pole. Your GPS will fail you here, so heed the telephone pole signs. Go to almost the end of the gravel road. Our house is the big blue colonial on left. You went too far if you go down a steep hill and the gravel road gets rougher. Park along the driveway or off to the right in the yard. Parking at the house is limited so we encourage carpooling if you can.
HOTEL AND TRAVEL INFORMATION: For those flying in, we recommend you book your ticket into BWI, Dulles or National. The training is a 45-mile drive from BWI, a 60-mile drive from Dulles and 75 miles from National. You will need to rent a car for the weekend or catch a ride with one a training buddy who lives in the area.
